Agate
Known for protection. This group of stones are variegated chalcedony. (see also moss agate, eye agate) The agate is one of the oldest stones in recorded history.
Probably the most famous place that agate is mined is Idar-Oberstein in Germany where it has been collected since 1548. Other locations to find agate are Uruguay, Brazil, United States, Mexico, Madagascar, Italy, Egypt, India, China, Scotland.
The stone was given its name by Theophrastus, a Greek philosopher and naturalist, who discovered the stone along the shore line of the river Achates (Greek: Αχάτης) sometime between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. The agate has been recovered at a number of ancient sites, indicating its widespread use in the ancient world; for example, archaeological recovery at the Knossos site on Crete illustrates its role in Bronze Age Minoan culture.
Coral
It is an organic gemstone made by living sea coral. Coral aids in soothing, intuition, imagination and energizing the emotions.
Red Coral meaning: Coral has been called the ‘garden of the sea’. It was once believed to be a plant, but is now known to actually contain living animals called polyps. Red is considered the most sought after color but coral also can be found in pink, white, yellow and black.
Records dating back thousands of years confirm that coral was used in decorative art objects. It was believed to prevent ill fortune and offer protection from skin disease when worn as a necklace. 
Coral is a good aid for meditation or visualization.
Healing properties of coral: Coral symbolizes life and blood force energy. Dark red coral is used for heating and stimulating the bloodstream. Pink shades restore harmony to the heart. It is used as an aid to depression, lethargy or deficient nutrition.

Howlite
It is a white to grey stone that has erratic streaks that look like cracks. These lines are often brown, grey or black. Howlite is a silicate that can be found in large masses.
Howlite is named after Mr. Henry How of Nova Scotia when he first described Howlite in 1868.
Goldstone
Are a rich rusty brown color that is flecked with thousands of tiny particles of glittering gold. The most common form of goldstone is reddish-brown in color; the color comes from the copper crystals. Some goldstone variants have an intensely-colored glass matrix—- usually blue or violet, more rarely green.
Goldstone is a type of synthetic glass that is heated a very high temperatures and then mixed with copper or copper salts. When the mixture cools, the copper precipitates into small crystalline clusters that sparkle inside the glass.
Goldstone is a type of glittering glass made in the presence of a reducing flame. The finished product can take a smooth polish and be carved into beads, figurines, or other artifacts suitable for semiprecious stone, and in fact goldstone is often mistaken for or misrepresented as a natural material.
The manufacturing process for goldstone was discovered in seventeenth-century Venice by the Miotti family, which was granted an exclusive license by the Doge. Persistent folklore attributes the discovery and secret of goldstone to an unnamed Italian monastic order, giving rise to the alternate names “monk’s gold” or “monkstone”.
Jasper
It is a member of chalcedony family. Jasper is used in healing mental stress, aids in grounding and offers protection. Jasper gemstones can align all the chakras and balance yin yang energies.

Moss Agate
(Also called mocha stone) is a semi-precious gemstone formed from silicon dioxide. This mineral is commonly found in limestone and granite. It is a form of agate which includes minerals of a green colour embedded in the chalcedony, forming filaments and other patterns suggestive of moss. It also sometimes resembles blue-cheese. The field is a clear or milky-white quartz, and the included minerals are mainly oxides of manganese or iron. Moss agate is of the white variety with green inclusions that resemble moss. It occurs in many locations. The colors are formed due to trace amounts of metal present as an impurity, such as chrome or iron. The metals can make different colors depending on their valence.
Despite its name, moss agate does not contain organic matter and is usually formed from weathered volcanic rocks.
Montana moss agate is an agate found in the alluvial gravels of the Yellowstone River and its tributaries between Sidney and Billings, Montana. The agate originally was formed in the Yellowstone National Park area of Wyoming as a result of volcanic activity. In Montana moss agate the red color is the result of iron oxide and the black color is the result of manganese oxide.
Serpentine
Gets its name from the word ‘serpent’ because it resembles the skin of a snake. It is sometimes called New Jade and occurs in a variety of colors including red, green, brown-red, brown-yellow and white. It has been used since ancient times to guard against disease and sorcery.
Serpentine makes an exceptional meditation stone. It helps you to find inner peace. Serpentine was carried in ancient Assyria to request the gods and goddesses to provide double blessings. Nursing women used it to regulate their milk supply.
